Dior Homme x Toru Kamei S/S 2017
Exploring the work of Dior Homme’s Van Assche and Japanese artist Toru Kamei in a fashion meets gothic art collaboration. Dressing up for the 21st century feels like its less about the self and more for the masses, so it’s possible that the duo have teamed up to remind people to evade reality and explore what it means to take a step back in the name of vanitas in a daringly beautiful concept. Nails by Michiko Matsushita, 1999
Matsushita took tiny computer parts and wires and embedded them under clear acrylic. She then took wire and metal and wrapped it carefully around the model’s fingers and hands, as it to remind us that it is not just about the nails…hand care, as well as client care, is just as important in the new millennium.
